Mazda has announced the launch of a new vehicle that could appeal to
eco car insurance policyholders.
The latest Mazda3 2.0 Sport has impressive fuel economy and is speedy yet frugal.
Able to go from zero to 62 miles per hour (mph) in 10.4 seconds, the model achieves 41.5 miles to the gallon on the combined cycle yet has CO2 emissions of 159 grams per kilometre.
Consumers will find that the model's fuel economy is improved by up to 16 per cent, while carbon output is cut by up to 19 per cent.
Although priced at £18,025,
eco car insurance policyholders could save money on the model by scrapping in their old vehicle and taking the £2,000 bonus they will receive off the price of the model.
The car achieves its impressive environmental performance through the use of Mazda's i-stop system, which automatically switches off the engine whenever the vehicle is stationary or travelling below two mph. The engine then restarts when the clutch is engaged.
Peter Allibon, Mazda fleet and remarketing director, commented: "The all-new Mazda3 2. 0 Sport with our exciting i-stop technology uniquely delivers both performance and cost savings to fleets, company car and individual drivers."
"For employees who regularly experience stop-start motoring in urban environments, our fuel-sipping i-stop technology mated to this 2.0 engine is the sensible money-saving choice," he added.
Last month, Mazda claimed that its new Mazda3 offering could be a smart choice for cost-conscious motorists as the vehicle is set to have strong residual values.
