Peugeot added to Environment Agency's fleet list

03 July 2009

Car manufacturer Peugeot has received the backing of the Environment Agency in its efforts to tackle carbon emissions and produce a more fuel-efficient vehicle.

The company has revealed that the agency has added its name to the list of its preferred suppliers for delivering low CO2 emission vehicles for the agency's job and management car fleets.

The Environment Agency is conscious of the vehicles it chooses to supply its corporate fleet and is keen to ensure all vehicles driven by its staff produce low emissions and are highly fuel-efficient, with many of the organisation's staff being able to benefit from eco car insurance.

"Peugeot's long term commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its vehicles has paid huge dividends, with sales in 2008 placing Peugeot as the leading low-emission manufacturer, both in the UK and across Europe," the manufacturer said.

The Environment Agency carries out a wide range of functions on behalf of the government, including inspecting and regulating businesses to ensure they are working towards environmentally-friendly procedures and policies.

Peugeot is not the only automaker that is looking to boost its eco credentials and offer eco car insurance policyholders the opportunity to drive more environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Earlier this week, Aston Marin revealed it has commissioned rival manufacturer Toyota to develop the latter's iQ platform to create a new car aimed at commuters.

The two firms hope to develop the new Cygnet car, which will offer low emissions and be designed specifically for inner-city use.
