Mazda to unveil lightweight new sports model

06 August 2009

Mazda is set to unveil a new vehicle that could appeal to eco car insurance customers as a result of its improved CO2 output.

The forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show will see the firm reveal its MX-5 Superlight vehicle, which utilises new technology to lower the car's weight.

As well as boasting enhanced CO2 output, the vehicle will offer improved driving performance, handling and fuel economy.

The car will be on show at the event's 63rd anniversary, running between September 15th and 27th.

Designed at the firm's German factor, the car is set to be a new take on the roadster, which will showcase a radically-redesigned exterior that requires no windshield. The sporty chassis provides settings for drivers to enjoy a fun ride.

According to Mazda, the vehicle "takes the lightweight technology that Mazda is famous for to a new level" while still retaining "the pure essence of the world's most popular roadster".

In June, the firm announced that its all-new Mazda3 2.0 Sport model is to be fitted with i-stop technology to reduce CO2 emissions.

The system works by pausing the engine when the vehicle is idle to boost fuel economy while enhancing the vehicle's environmental performance to 159 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

Carbon emissions have been cut by up to 19 per cent, while fuel economy is boosted by up to 16 per cent - good news for eco car insurance policyholders looking to save money while caring for the environment.
