The new Toyota Prius, which is only just hitting showrooms, is proving popular with the eco-friendly public, attracting huge advance orders.
According to Toyota, Britons have eagerly ordered their new models, signing up in their thousands for the latest Prius.
Eco car insurance policyholders may be among the Brits clamouring to get behind the wheel of the green vehicle, which runs on a hybrid powertrain and boasts impressive CO2 ratings.
The T3 version of the model - ranked as the world's cleanest family car - emits 89 grams of CO2 per kilometre, helping
eco car insurance policyholders put their minds at rest instead of worrying that their car is too polluting.
Toyota states that by the time the Prius officially went on sale, more than 2,000 advance orders had been placed. Almost ten per cent of these were through the scrappage scheme, whereby motorists can save around £2,000 on the cost of a new vehicle by handing over their older auto for scrap.
The firm adds that drivers have given up vehicles including a Jaguar Sovereign and Mercedes-Benz SL to become the owner of a Prius.
It now hopes that interest in the latest vehicle will gain further momentum following the launch of the televised promotional campaign entitled The Next Prius. Follow Me.
July saw Toyota report that the Prius is one of the most technologically advanced cars on the market, achieving ownership cost benefits and enhancing fuel economy by up to ten per cent.
