1st Toyota Prius reaches London

17 August 2009

The first hotly-anticipated Toyota Prius has arrived in London, where many motorists have already preordered the environmentally-friendly vehicle.

On Friday August 14th greentomatocars took delivery of the inaugural vehicle, which boasts better driving performance as well as lower carbon dioxide emissions for car insurance customers.

Tom Pakenham, chief executive of the firm, said: "At greentomatocars, we've always done things a little differently and we love to put a smile on our customers' faces.

"We are delighted to offer all our customers the opportunity to be the first Londoners to experience the comfort, performance and unparalleled environmental benefits offered by the new Prius."

The third generation Prius has had a 90 per cent component redesign to give the hybrid vehicle a more compact and efficient system, with its fuel economy improved by ten per cent.

It now operates at 72.4 mpg per kilometre, those considering taking out a green car insurance policy may be interested to know.

Earlier this month it was revealed that the Prius has attracted thousands of new orders, with more than ten per cent of the advance sales being made through the government's scrappage scheme.

Under this initiative motorists trading in vehicles ten years old or more could receive as much as £2,000 off a brand new environmentally-friendly car.ADNFCR-2043-ID-19316535-ADNFCR
