Toyota has announced it will unveil its latest Auris concept to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The green vehicle, which utilises a plug-in hybrid concept, could appeal to
eco car insurance policyholders when it goes on sale next year.
According to the firm, officially unveiling the model will be Toyota's first step towards deploying its Hybrid Synergy Drive across the entire vehicle range.
The system works by combining a petrol engine with an electric motor to enhance fuel efficiency while also reducing CO2 output.
In July, Toyota announced that it would manufacture the green vehicles in Derbyshire to ensure they are ready for UK customers by mid 2010, which is also when grants may be announced by the government to help Britons invest in greener vehicles.
Tadashi Arashima, chief executive and president of Toyota Motor Europe, said he hoped adding the green technology to a mainstream vehicle would help make eco-friendly innovation available to all kinds of customer.
"Our decision to produce a full hybrid in the UK reflects both our confidence in the quality and commitment of the TMUK workforce and the strength of our long-standing partnership with the UK government," he stated in July.
Meanwhile, the firm is also poised to unveil a number of other models at the Frankfurt show.
Among the launches will be the European premiere of the new Land Cruiser - which will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009 - and the unveiling of the iQ show cars.
