Green car manufacturer Toyota has reported year-on-year reductions in emissions and pledged to continue its use of more sustainable energy sources.
Eco car insurance customers may be interested to hear the sustainability report indicated the firm's total carbon emissions were cut by more than 17 per cent.
Toyota claims this is due to a number of factors including its increased reliance on green energy, as 14 of its bases are now powered by 100 per cent renewable power.
All its operations within the European Union were also said to have achieved ISO 14001 certification, which it describes as "the international reference in environmental management".
In addition, the manufacturer has also set aside £6.9 million of investment for community projects.
Around 300 schemes, all with a focus on either technical education, environment and road safety, will benefit from the funding.
Good news was also promised for European workers, as Toyota reaffirmed its commitment to providing stable employment in the continent.
In the same period, emissions from the vehicle producer's new models also fell by almost four per cent.
It attributed this drop to the introduction of new advanced environmental technologies, such as the Optimal Drive system with improved combustion efficiency.
Last year also saw compact, low-emitting vehicles comprise almost one-third of Toyota's sales in Europe.
The release of the sustainability report follows news the company is to unveil its latest Auris concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The green vehicle, which integrates a plug-in hybrid concept, is slated to go on sale next year.
