ibuyeco proud to support The Converging World’s Climate350 campaign

Bristol event set to count down to International Climate Conference

October 2009

Eco car insurance provider, ibuyeco is supporting The Converging World during
its Climate350 campaign; a range
of events to raise awareness of present day
impacts of climate change and show support of the CoP15 climate
negotiations in Copenhagen, held this coming December. The campaign will
kick off with ‘Climate Countdown’, an event held on 24th October, at Bristol’s
Harbourside and Millennium Square, which sees a host of music, dancing,
performances and speeches taking place.

ibuyeco’s support of The Converging World is one of a number of initiatives
the insurance provider undertakes to support greener driving. For each new
or
renewed policy taken out with ibuyeco, a donation is made to one of a
number of environmental charities, including The Converging World. As well as
this, ibuyeco offersto help customers offset the carbon emissions created by
their car usage and provides hints and tips on how to bring these emissions
d
own through driving practices.

The Converging World is a Bristol based charity whose objectives are to
tackle climate change whilst supporting the move towards a just and
sustainable world. To represent The Converging World’s call to reduce
emissions to 350
parts per million (ppm) from the current 450 ppm,
Climate350 will see 350 performances by local and national musicians
held in the days leading up to the international conference on 18th
December 2009. The conference is seen as the last chance to gain
international agreement on safe levels of carbon emissions.

The event on 24th October gives people the opportunity to sign petitions for
controls on climate change, as well as gaining information on the events and
the Climate350 campaign, which they can also keep up to datewith via
Facebook and Twitter. There will also be stalls, games and activities at
Climate village, as well as performances by the winner of Climate350 Battle
of the Bands.

Lucy Bailey, Head of ibuyeco, said, “We are very proud to be in partnership
with The Converging World. At ibuyeco, we understand that many people
have to have cars as part of their everyday lives and hope that with our
donations to environmental charities, carbon offsetting initiatives and hints
and tips, our customers can do their bit to make their lives more
environmentally friendly.

"We think the Climate350 event is a great way of raising awareness of
the impact of climate change and what can be done to reduce the damage
being caused to the world. We look forward to supporting The Converging
World with the fantastic work they do all over the world.”

Anita Beardsley from The Converging Worlds said, “Climate change is a very
real issue for many people, particularly in developing countries. The current
carbon emissions level of 450ppm is suggested to be too high. A realistic
figure of 350ppmin each country will help us preserve the parts of the world
that we would like for longer.

“After the campaign finishes in December we want people to continue
to engagewith us in the transition to a new low carbon, sustainable a
nd converging world.”
