what is carbon offsetting?
During our everyday lives many of our actions, such as driving a car, heating our homes or flying on holiday, consume energy and therefore produce Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Carbon offsetting involves calculating these CO2 emissions and purchasing an equal number of carbon credits, from a carbon reduction project somewhere in the world.
These projects have prevented or removed an equivalent amount of carbon to the amount of carbon credits they have to sell. One carbon credit is equal to one tonne of CO2 so, for instance, if a wind farm prevents 10,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere then it will have 10,000 carbon credits to sell.
Buying these credits provides the finance that enables these projects to continue preventing or reducing carbon emissions. At ibuyeco we've now made it easier for you to balance the annual CO2 emissions that your unavoidable car driving produces.
How it works
Simply enter your details into our easy to use quote engine and we will automatically calculate the annual CO2 emissions that your vehicle will produce, taking into account its engine size, fuel type and your annual mileage.
Our quote engine will then calculate the payment that you need to make, to offset your CO2 emissions, and for every 1kg of CO2 emissions we will buy an equivalent amount of carbon credits from a carbon reduction project - one balancing the other to make your driving 100% carbon neutral.
